“Follow Me” is a US Army motto that has most defined my leadership style and thinking. It expresses so simply the most essential covenant and promise of trust between leader and team. CEOs uniquely, explicitly and implicitly, say “follow me” to their teammates every day. As a coach, supporting my CEO partners in their ability to deliver as leaders on this promise is my focus and passion.

I’m currently a member of the EDB board of directors and a Harvard Business School Executive Fellow teaching sales and distribution classes to second year MBA students.

I served as CEO of EDB for 15 years, in addition to serving as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. As CEO, I drove the development and execution of EDB’s strategic vision and growth in the database industry. I joined EDB in 2008, and steered the company through 54 consecutive quarters of growth, and three successful sales of the company to PE partners, most recently with majority investment in the company from Bain Capital in 2022. Prior to that, I led EDB’s acquisition of 2nd Quadrant, which brought together the world’s top Postgres experts and positioned EDB as the largest dedicated provider of Postgres solutions and services worldwide. As a veteran of the open source software movement, I am a seasoned enterprise software executive who emphasizes a technology-first business approach coupled with a highly structured and disciplined sales and GTM model in order to lead the open source data movement. Prior to EDB, I served as Vice President and General Manager of North America at Red Hat, where I played a central leadership role in the development of the modern business model for bringing open source to enterprises. I am known for my passion, relentless energy, and strategic leadership.

I serve as an advisor and former Board Chair of Project Citizenship, a non-profit organization helping legal permanent residents achieve their dream of American Citizenship.

Prior to my business career, I honed my leadership skills as a Captain in the U.S. Army where I also trained as an airborne Ranger. I earned my MBA from Harvard Business School and BA from Boston University.
